Hebrew Month of Nissan-Passover
Hebrew Month Of Nissan
“Happy New Year”
We’ve entered a key time on the Jewish calendar, the month of Nissan, the first month or New Year for the Jewish nation. On the 14th of Nissan, back in Exodus, Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt after God struck down all the Gods of Egypt, (the 10 plagues) and set them on the course to their promised land.
We can use that story as a prototype for our own stories out of bondage to the God’s around us. We all have needed deliverance in one form or another, or we might ask, 'why did Jesus have to shed his blood?
The lambs blood on the doorposts of their dwellings is another prototype of Redemption which we celebrate by looking at the Old Testament types. But Christ is the reality of that Jewish remembrance.... Except, a veil is over the Jewish people to this day that will not be removed until they say again, ‘blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’
Also this is the month of Judah, where Judah ‘back in the day’ was the first tribe to move out in the wilderness, so we say Judah, which means Praise, 'must go first!.. All spiritual activity, should begin with praise, to the God of our Salvation, the Lord Jesus Christ, through Holy Spirit.
Some other keys for this month include, thanking God for our own salvation, and deliverance, watching our speech, as well as a time to put our best foot forward. The Israelites had to step out in faith, as we also have to do daily.
Before crossing the Jordan later, into the promised land, God reminded Joshua, that they were a stiff-necked people. As we cross over into a new biblical month, let us take that as a warning to hear the voice of God and obey it.
Nissan also celebrates the barley harvest, and as a symbol of the fruit of increase, we can wave our first fruit offerings before the Lord as a thank and worship offering. Even Jesus was called our first fruits from the dead as well as the Passover lamb.
