Hebrew month of Tammuz
We are in the fourth month on the Hebrew calendar. What can we glean, prophetically from this month?
The tribe associated with this month is the tribe of Reuben, who was the first-born of Jacob, with Laban’s daughter Leah, who Laban tricked Jacob into marrying instead of Rachel. The conniver, Jacob, who tricked his brother out of his birthright, got a taste of his own medicine!
Reuben had some good points, as the oldest son, the expected leader of this clan, but fell short of his destiny.
The good: he protected Joseph from being killed by his brothers.
The bad: he did not prevent Joseph from being kidnapped.
The good: His tribe helped the other tribes when they needed reinforcements in conflicts throughout the wilderness and later.
The bad: He shacked up with Bilhah, his father’s concubine, Rachel’s maid. Gen. 35:22
According to Jenny Watson,of Kingdom Advance Network, Ruben forfeited his
Priesthood, his birthright, his dignity and his strength by this illicit affair.
His birthright was given to Joseph, who got a double portion, namely Manasseh and Ephraim his sons.
Leah prophesied that God had “seen” her in her barren affliction. So this theme of sight factors in this month of Tammuz.
Where is Moses? murmured the Israelites, when they were waiting for him to come down from Mount Sinai, with the commandments and the blueprints for the tabernacle. Because of impatience, and impetuousness, this is the month when they built the ‘golden calf.’
The eyes of the flesh ruled them and they took their focus away from God.
First Corinthians 10 gives a warning to those of us under the New Covenant,
10 Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, 2 all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, 3 all ate the same spiritual food, 4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ. 5 But with most of them God was not well pleased, for their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.6 Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted. 7 And do not become idolaters as were some of them. As it is written, “The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.” (in response to worshipping the Golden Calf)
So, we are warned by their behavior, against rebellion, which was ‘seeded’ by their whining and grumbling.
KAN,says, ‘choose repentance, not rebellion; choose worship, not whining!’
This is also a key month to pray for Israel, as the period from Tammuz 17 to the 9t Av, are considered the ‘dire straights! This is a period when disastershappened to Israel because of their unbelief as well as Satan’s rage.
Examples of these, include the unbelief of going into the promised land, the destruction of both, Solomon’s temple, by the Babylonians, and the 2n temple,by the Romans; as well as the Crusades, and several expulsions from differentcountries, including the Holocaust, from the Warsaw ghetto. These were cursesthe people brought on themselves because of rebellion, unbelief, and of course antisemtism, fueled by Satan.
Worship is key this month, to help us exalt the Lord to his rightful place in our hearts, as well as helping us keep our eyes pure, and our mouths speaking life.
Watch your Covenant alignments also this month, as the Lord uses agreement and alignment to strengthen us in our battle for righteousness. Let us align our eyes and our mouths with the word of God, speak forth our destiny, and confound the enemy and the avenger.
Often alignments are characterized by handshakes. Watch who you are shaking hands with this month.
Finally, the constellation for this month is Cancer represented by the Crab. A crab represents a shell.
I was driving the bus for a church youth trip to Virginia Beach and Maryland, and I bought a tee shirt, that said, “Maryland is for Crabs! And it had a crab shell on it. God revealed to me,“I was the crab! I had a negative attitude which showed in my speech, although I didn’t realize it then.
The tongue is a mighty force, for good, or for evil. Let the fire of God control our tongues lest we start our own ungodly fires!
Shalom, shalom!
